Secondly, the ACP Working Group on Bananas held a meeting in Brussels to examine Caricom’s proposals for the regulation of the banana trade in Europe. In Suriname, the government is accusing the Dutch of improper behaviour after the opposition politicians in Holland hold talks with Ronnie Brunswick, Suriname’s Jungle Commando. However, the Dutch government refused Ronnie Brunswick to meet with Holland’s Foreign Minister and accommodated talks between Brunswick and senior civil servants. There are also speculations of a pending coup to reinstate the former Haitian president, Leslie Manigat, who is expected to arrive in Haiti tomorrow.
