US-Haiti relations are affected by a few rough patches and Emmanuel Constant, Leader of the paramilitary group in Haiti is expected to go public with his links with the CIA. The Jamaican Football Federation has been forced to suspend all matches on the island following attacks on players, referees and linesmen. The six Caribbean dependent territories state what they want out of the proposed new deal with London. President Fidel Castro has rejected charity from the Cuban American National Foundation and US Senator Jesse Helms. In the Cayman Islands, authorities fear inappropriate behavior and refuse to let a ship, which was part of a gay cruise, dock. Director of the cruise, Rich Campbell states he would not forget the snub and warns there could be fallout for the island's tourism industry. In Trinidad, the conference on sexual pleasure and sexual health continues and Dr. Everold Hosein states the conference acknowledges the pleasure of sex. In cricket, following the cancellation of the test match at Sabina Park, authorities try to allay fears on the state of readiness of the pitch. Trinidad has recruited a soil scientist Dr. Frank Gumbs to supervise the preparation of the two pitches. So far, there are no reports of fatal injuries although there are many reports of extensive damages to some buildings and roads. Jean Louis Bordonado, who is in charge of PAHO Disaster Project for the Eastern Caribbean, comments on plans to send a team into Antigua and gives an assessment of the situation. In Antigua, Norman Thomas, the station manager of Antigua ABS, reports on the hurricane damages sustained and how Antiguans are bearing up. The scenes of the hurricane affected areas from Antigua to St. Martin are described. Antigua and Barbuda's Aviation Minister Robin Yearwood expresses concern about the storm and appeals to his CARICOM colleagues for immediate assistance. Opposition Leader Desmond Hoyte calls on the Chancellor of the Judiciary to clarify a conflicting statement made between him and the Army Chief of Staff. Meanwhile, Caribbean Rights is alarmed at what it describes as the deteriorating political situation in Guyana. The US has issued an advisory warning against travel to Guyana and Richard Humphrey, President of the Tourist Association comments on how this statement could affect tourism. American diplomat Jeanette Hyde states that the EU banana regime is flawed and short on delivery of benefits to Caribbean banana farmers. In Antigua, Cyril Taffy Bufton is granted bail following a shooting incident involving Vere Bird Jr. As Britain seeks to strengthen its role with its European partners, its allegiance to Caribbean states comes into question. The US government allowed Cuban baseball player Orlando Hernandez into the US, however Mr. Hernandez turned down US residency to seek asylum in the Bahamas instead. In cricket, the West Indies Cricket Board held a series of meetings in Antigua aimed at implementing strategies for the improvement of the game.
