Abstract
This article reviews the unsuccessful efforts of Guyana to relate its educational programmes more directly to the work environment. It finds that the failure is directly related to the nature of the unemployment situation and the wage level. It concludes that it is impossible to educate people in an area that they do not see as being in their best interest
