Abstract

This article is a summary of a research paper on education and development in Barbados, presented to the School of Education, The University of the West Indies (UWI) in 1987. It seeks to establish that socially and economically privileged groups have differential access to schools and schooling considered by many to be "superior." Further, it argues that a development strategy which ignores these issues is flawed
