Abstract
This working paper discusses the effects of a common colonial legacy on the educational systems of Caribbean countries, and examines the national education programmes of Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. It also discusses such topics as adult educational financing, and stresses regional cooperation, citing the work of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC). It refers to the replacing of educational testing from overseas with tests from the Caribbean, and describes a regional project on curriculum development, with brief reference to teacher training and educational technology.
