Abstract
This address explored whether the system of education in Trinidad and Tobago had fostered the development of each of the following prerequisites to dialogue: 1) community articulateness, 2) willingness and ability to listen critically and to respond accordingly, 3) reading ability, 4) confidence in one's ability to contribute to the community, 5) selflessness in participation, and 6) willingness to challenge and be challenged
