Abstract

The objectives of this workshop were to: 1) develop leadership skills in a selected group of Trinidad and Tobago nationals; 2) assist educators of children with learning difficulties to become more aware and sensitive to the broad categories of special needs of children in the special schools, the voluntary organizations, and mainstream schools; and 3) teach educators the basic concepts, principles, and techniques of diagnosis and prescription with respect to children with special academic difficulties. The document contains outlines of the topics covered by the instructors: Education of the Hearing Impaired, Education of the Learning Disabled, Teaching of Mathematics to the Slower Learner, Visually Impaired and Mentally Retarded Children, and Instructional Design and Evaluation. The programme and timetable for the Orientation of School Supervisors are also included.
