Abstract
This article reflects on the educational systems of developing countries, with particular reference to the dependence on the ex-colonizers. It then focuses on two issues: 1) the role of the teacher in the development of geography curricula, with reference to the Sixth Form Geography Project in Jamaica; and 2) the change strategy adopted by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), with special reference to the provision for teacher involvement in curriculum development and the examination process
