"Grosser Kurfuerst" partly visited the famous Pitch Lake at La Brea. The banana plantations are exciting much interest." The postcard is addressed to George S. Stirl, Reading, PA. This two storey building, with its Georgian styled architecture, was designed by Lewis Samuels. The building was constructed on the site of the former British military barracks called Orange Grove. This was meeting place for local businessmen. The building was demolished in 1999 to make way for the Nicholas Towers.
