The postcard is addressed to Mrs. Mary Sewnenig, Coatesville, PA, U.S.A. Affixed to the postcard is a US 1 cent stamp, postmarked December 12, 1910.Item Governor's Residence(2009-06-04T13:05:24Z)A view of the Governor's Residence from across the garden with a curved path lined with benches, potted plants and a variety of tropical flora, leading to the main building. Just to the left of the building is a giant Samaan tree and in the background is the hills of St. Ann's. This residence was designated "The President's House" in 1976 when Trinidad and Tobago became a Republic. The postcard is addressed to Miss Helen Smith, Mont., U.S.A. There are several ships on the sea and people are strolling about on the jetty.Item Loading Pitch, La Brea, Trinidad, B.W.I.(Muir Marshall and Co., Trinidad, 2010-01-18T13:22:53Z)On the left of this photograph one can see gentlemen in jackets and hats looking on as blue collar workers dig and load pitch onto railroad carts and trolleys at the Pitch Lake in La Brea. This pitch will later be loaded on to ships via an aerial tramway at Brighton Pier and exported afar. Trinidad, B.W.I.(Waterman the Hatter, Clothier and Outfitter, Trinidad, 2010-05-13T13:30:24Z)In this vintage postcard, four men in hats linger on the pitch at the Pitch Lake, La Brea, south west Trinidad. A lady is seated nearby. Numerous trees are spread across the horizon. The Pitch Lake is the largest natural deposit of asphalt in the world. It was discovery by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1595. It is mined for asphalt and is a fascinating tourist attraction. Postcard number 1018.Item Queen's Park Hotel, Trinidad(G.G. Belgrave, Trinidad, 2010-06-16T18:24:03Z)The Queen's Park Hotel, located in Port of Spain on the southern side of the Queen's Park Savannah, was first opened in January 1895. There are a few horse and carriages at the centre horizon and the sign above the entrance gate would read, if it were more legible, "Queen's Park Hotel". This postcard, postmarked November 3rd 1910, is addressed to Master Donald Sensenig of Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Affixed to the postcard is a one cent United States postage stamp.Item Saman [sic] Tree, Trinidad(Davidson and Todd Ltd., Trinidad, 2010-05-21T14:19:39Z)The postcard shows some children playing near a Samaan tree located in a field in Trinidad. This card was mailed to someone in Somerset, England, the addressee's name is unclear. And affixed is a 3 cents Trinidad and Tobago postage stamp.Item Traveller's Palm, Trinidad, B.W.I.(Stephens Ltd., Trinidad, 2010-06-01T14:31:31Z)This postcard shows the Traveller's Palm which has a distinctive fan shape and was given its name because the sheaths of the stem hold drinking water which can be used as an emergency drinking supply. This used postcard is addressed to Mrs. Elie G--[name illegible] of Massachusetts, United States of America.Item TRinity Cathedral, Trinidad.(G.G. Belgrave, Trinidad, 2010-05-18T13:52:02Z)Image depicts the Trinity Cathedral in Port of Spain Trinidad, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The view is from the north western corner of Hart and Abercromby Streets looking in a south eastwardly direction.Item Victoria Institute, Trinidad, B.W.I.(Waterman, Trinidad, 2010-07-01T12:53:20Z)The postcard shows the Victoria Institute which built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen’s Victoria’s reign. Fire gutted the building in 1920s and it was rebuilt in 1923, but renamed the National Museum and Art Gallery in 1965. The original building was designed by Daniel Mienerts Hahn, a German who worked in the Dept of Public Works. Printed on the back of the postcard are the words :"1016 Par excellence." This used postcard is postmarked 1910.
