dc.description.abstract | This program examines Grenada’s Minister of Works Dr. Keith Mitchell’s call for open discussion on the ruling New National Party’s future, in the wake of General Elections in Grenada in 1989. It goes on to focus on the debate in the British House of Commons regarding the new immigration rules which remove the automatic right of immigrant men settled in Britain before 1973 to bring their wives and children to join them. Also included in the program is a brief report on Cuba’s President Fidel Castro’s rejection of the processes of “Glasnost” and “Perestroika” being carried out in the Soviet Union, and his rallying call to Cubans to stick to the ideals of Cuban socialism, which he sees as a stronger and clearer option. Finally, the program concludes with highlights of the cricket match between the West Indies and Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, and a brief look at the performances of Caribbean athletes at the 2nd IAAF World Junior Championships in Sudbury, Canada. | en_US |
