Report of the National Planning Commission for the Year 1989

Abstract

This report seeks to provide a summary of the activities in which the National Planning Commission was involved during the course of 1989, as it endeavored to discharge its primary function of providing the Cabinet with timely advice on matters of national importance, on which the Government sought to have a second opinion. In this regard, the report will review the Commission’s efforts to complete the work it commenced earlier, towards the establishment of a platform for economic transformation by an exercise which will result in the completion of a document entitled “Restructuring for Economic Independence”, the major decade of the twentieth century and beyond.
