Abstract
The evaluation was intended to: 1) examine the quality of, and organization for secondary mathematics instruction in Bermuda; 2) determine the extent of the match between skills of school leavers and the needs of the community and further education establishments; 3) determine the current position with respect to facilities and equipment for mathematics teaching; 4) determine the perception of other subject teachers of the mathematical competence of students. Questionnaires and interviews were used to survey teachers, the business community, and Bermuda College, and a sample of classroom was observed. The report contains a discussion and comments on the results of the evaluation, conclusions, and recommendations. There are 11 appendices, which include the reports of various interviews and observations, and a copy of the survey instrument.
