Abstract
This article examines the role of The University of the West Indies (UWI) and the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) in promoting regional cooperation and development. It also describes the major plans being formulated within the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and by the CARICOM Secretariat to promote cooperation in education within the sub-region and the region, generally. Some of the questions which education will need to address if it is to increase its contribution to regional development are identified
