Abstract
This article reviews developments in science education in the Caribbean during the 1970s, and considers the forces that brought about changes. The focus is on Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) Integrated Science (Double Award), teachers' college assessment in the Eastern Caribbean, and the development of science teachers' associations. It examines the assumptions of the aims and objectives of science education and suggests likely trends
