Abstract
This survey, which was designed to serve as a source of data for the supply side of manpower planning, and as an evaluation of the education system, is a follow-up of previous surveys conducted in 1973, 1975 and 1977. The objective of Phase I was to get a measure of the number of students who would be leaving school, the likely certificates they would obtain, and their aspirations. The table presented in this report were manually extracted from returns collected during April-June 1979. They provide the following information on the graduates: 1) number expected to leave school before the end of the year and their reasons for leaving, by type of school; 2) number interested in additional courses/subjects, by type of school; 3) number interested in migrating, by country of choice and type of school; 4) aspirations in terms of types of jobs, industries of choice, and expected salaries; and 5) relationship between aspirations and parents’ occupations.
