At the opening ceremony of the CARICOM Heads of Government Summit in the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Patrick Manning calls for the political integration of the region. The day’s proceedings continued with a presentation by the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce (CAIC) which proposed six recommendations. Among the recommendations are the abolition of the union liberty rules on CARICOM decision making on trade and investment issues, and duty free importation of raw materials and plant machinery.
