This paper reviews the studies of reading done by masters, diploma and certificate students of the Faculty of Education, The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine. It admits to experiencing some degree of analytical difficulty in pinpointing trends because the purposes, foci and target populations of analysis vary. However, despite the problems encountered in analyzing the studies, they are deemed useful in providing a basis from which plans for future studies and local testing can be developed.
