The Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anuaoku, presents a formal letter from the African National Congress which encourages the Caribbean leaders to support South Africa’s return to international cricket. The Jamaican Prime Minister, Michael Manley, comments on Chief Anyaoku’s request and also the proposals of the West Indian Commission for Caribbean integration. Guyana’s Desmond Hoyte condemns the practice of the use of Haitian child labour on state-owned sugar plantations in the Dominican Republic. St. Vincent’s Prime Minister, James Mitchell, urges the Caribbean leaders to continue pushing towards a single Caricom market and lasting regional integration.
