From imitation to innovation: The production and distribution of books in the Caribbean

Abstract

This report of the seminar presents an overview of the panel discussions, the reports of each of the eight committees formed during the seminar: Creative writing, Scholarly works, Children’s books, Caribbean Junior Encyclopedia, Adult education materials, Textbooks and supplementary reading, the Reading public, and Distribution problems and technical problems, and an overview of the situation of book production and distribution in the Caribbean. The discussion includes the size of the market, the case of textbooks, and proposals for increasing the size of the market. Copies of the background documents circulated to participants are appended to the report.
