This survey attempted to discover the perceptions of youth in Trinidad and Tobago regarding their needs, and whether these coincide with those of their older counterparts. A questionnaire was administered by 20 youths participating in the Youth Leadership Training Programme to 1,247 respondents evenly divide between males and females, of whom 50 percent were in the 15-19 age group. Data analysis revealed among other findings that, 1) membership of youth organizations was fairly low; 2) visiting friends was the most popular leisure time activity; 3) there was a large measure of ignorance about the district services offered by the Ministry, although there was widespread knowledge of the vocational training programmes; and 4) some 71 percent of the respondents thought that the government could provide solutions to the problems facing youth, the most important of which were identified as drug use and unemployment. Recommendations are made for actions to be taken by the Ministry.
