Abstract
Against the background of the policy statement on special education proposed to the St. Lucian Government by the National Council of the Disabled, this paper discusses the programmes and activities of the Saint Lucia School for the Blind, the Saint Lucia School for the Deaf, and the Dunnottar School. It also discusses and earlier attempt at the provision of special education in the public school system, which only lasted for five years, as well as new plans for the provision of learning/instructional materials for children with learning difficulties.
