| dc.description.abstract | These syllabuses aim to: help the students acquire a range of mathematical techniques and skills to foster and maintain the awareness of the importance of accuracy; make Mathematics relevant to the interests and experiences of the student, helping him to recognise Mathematics in his environment; cultivate the ability to apply mathematical knowledge to the solution of problems which are meaningful to the student as a citizen; cultivate the ability to think logically and critically; develop positive attitudes such as open-mindedness, self-reliance, persistence and a spirit of enquiry; prepare students for the use of Mathematics in further studies; develop appreciation of the wide application of Mathematics and its influence in the advancement of civilisation; cultivate a growing awareness of the unifying structures of Mathematics. | en_US |
