Abstract
The materials in this unit were based, to a large extent, on the ideas and research of teachers working in the secondary schools of the Eastern Caribbean. The form of the unit reflects 1) the experiences of teachers and students in their classrooms, 2) the cooperative thinking of the mathematics consultants who worked alongside the teachers and students in their classrooms, and 3) the approach to curriculum development espoused by the Caribbean Mathematics Project.
