| dc.description.abstract | This study attempts to trace the history of secondary education in Trinidad and Tobago from the early period of colonial government in order to determine the influences and attitudes that have moulded the character of secondary education and which are still potent, especially in the design of secondary school curricula. It also considers the contributions that education can make to the development of the type of society envisaged for Trinidad and Tobago. An empirical research project was undertaken to use the techniques of the manpower approach to educational planning to gauge the extent to which secondary school curricula are designed to produce the manpower needed for the economic development of the country | |
