Abstract

This study of the attitude and achievement of Form 3 students in Guyana, and the attitudes of their teachers and parents. Questionnaires were administered to 960 students from 23 schools, 123 teachers, and the parents and guardians. An achievement test was also administered to the students. Among other findings, the results showed that: 1) the students had favorable attitudes towards their teachers and other school-related issues; 2) parents had favourable attitudes towards children, teachers and school learning; and 3) teachers had favorable attitudes towards education, teaching, students, and educational innovations. The results of the study and their implications are discussed.
