Caribbean history in the schools: A critical assessment of recent writings for secondary schools in the Anglophone Caribbean
Abstract
This paper offers a critical assessment of the post-1979 Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC)-oriented texts. It examines the extent to which they reflect current approaches to historical scholarship and their success in breaking away from Eurocentrism. It also considers the extent to which they incorporate recent published research and new insights, and encourage research skills and the use of sources
