Abstract
This report examines the structure and operation of the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) in Barbados, and presents the main points made in the various memoranda submitted to the committee or during discussions with the committee. The points made relate to: 1) the structure, organization, and conduct of the examination; 2) the contents of examination papers; 3) the effects of the CEE on children, parents, teachers, and schools; 4) the philosophy of education deemed to be implicit in the existing provisions; and 5) specific proposals for change. Based on the analysis of these submissions, the report makes proposals for change and examines the implications of these recommendations
