Abstract
The objectives of this policy are to: 1) improve the understanding of health and family life education (HFLE) and promote it as a comprehensive life skills-based programme among children and youth, parents, educators, health and community workers, community members, and the media, thereby creating a supportive environment throughout Trinidad and Tobago for the effective teaching and learning of HFLE; 2) provide mechanisms and guidelines for the coordination, management, institutionalization, and sustainability of HFLE, and for the revision and/or integration of relevant existing programmes; 3) raise and maintain the status of HFLE at the coordination, collaboration, communication, and partnership among major stakeholders including governmental, non-governmental and cooperate sectors, for delivering an effective programme; and 4) develop and harness the institutional resources necessary for the effective delivery of HFLE at all levels of education in both formal and informal sectors.
