Abstract
This paper discusses the ways in which the education system can contribute to enhancing national competitiveness. The first section discusses the concept and meaning of competitiveness, while the second section discusses how the education system can help to foster competitiveness. The final section discusses the experience of Singapore as a very small country, which has apparently been able to increase its global competitiveness, and whose experiences might, therefore, prove useful and relevant to a country like Trinidad and Tobago.
