| dc.description.abstract | The focus of this paper is on the spatial arrangement and relationships of the Jamaican primary school system. For illustrative purposes, one parish, St. Ann, chosen for analysis. The objective is to allocate all children to schools in such a configuration that the overall "cost" or travel distances are minimized. When all assignments have been made, the catchment area of each school can be defined, and on that basis, the entire parish is structured into a pattern of contiguous school districts | |
