Abstract
This study explores gender differentials in academic performance in the education system in Trinidad and Tobago through an analysis of entry levels and results of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) for the period 2000- 2004. It is divided into two parts. The first part examines gender variations in the numbers of students sitting in various CXC examinations at the CSEC General Proficiency and Technical Proficiency levels, while the second part explores gender differentials in achievement in these examinations.
