Caribbean Report 30-04-1997

Abstract

Final general election speeches in Britain as the three main political parties make a last minute effort to win over undecided voters. Caribbean Report takes to the streets with some of the black candidates in London. Next, the United States President can expect to hear complaints about a successful US challenge to European trade preferences for Caribbean bananas. A World Trade Organisation dispute panel rules in favour of a US led complaint that the European Union bananas regime discriminated against Latin American dollar bananas. Next, Jamaican police have recapture three of the fifteen prisoners who escaped over the weekend from a remand jail. Finally, the Conservative and Liberal Democrat policy on foreign aid is discussed.
