Instrument for Textbook Evaluation (Revised May, 1990)

Abstract

This instrument evaluates textbooks for use in schools in Trinidad and Tobago using eight criteria: 1) context of the material; 2) language of the text; 3) sociocultural characteristics; 4) function of illustrations and pictorial material; 5) instructional characteristics, literary characteristics, and literary value; 6) support material; 7) assessment; and 8) quality of the editing and proofing. It also provides for basic information on the text and the overall opinion of the reviewer.
