Abstract

This toolkit was initially developed as an output of the Student Art Contest initiative of the Break the Silence End Child Sexual Abuse (BTS) Campaign. This campaign accompanied the 2008–2011 action/research project – Gender, Child Sexual Abuse and Implications for HIV in Trinidad and Tobago, a project undertaken by the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS), The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus, with support from UNICEF and the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women (managed by UNIFEM, now UN Women). In 2020 the toolkit was revised to produce a Spanish Language and an English Language migrant centered versions as an IGDS-developed component of the UWI Open Hand Initiative, funded by the Pan American Development Foundation/Organization of American States (PADF). It builds on the work of the original toolkit prepared for teachers in schools in Trinidad and Tobago but makes important additions and adjustments. Thanks to Nadine Lewis-Agard, Greisy Carolina Gonzalez Laguna, Omattie Madray and Tracie Rogers for their work in the preparation of this publication.
