St. Vincent's Prime Minister Sir James Mitchell has sent a letter of protest to the US Ambassador Jeanette Hyde condemning the State Department's drug report. Ambassador Hyde speaks on the issue and comments on what would be on the agenda for her meeting with Prime Minister Mitchell. The CARICOM Secretariat states it is yet to receive specific complaints from Barbados about non-tariff barriers within CARICOM. The Irish-based banana distribution and marketing company, Fyffes has made a new acquisition in Europe. The European Union (EU) has sent a letter to American Congressmen reiterating its concerns about the possible adoption of a controversial bill. Cuba has denied that it plans to unleash another exodus of boat people on the US. Robert McNamara, former US Defense Secretary has described current US policy towards Cuba as insane. Agriculture Ministers from at least four EU member states have voiced concerns about plans to negotiate a free trade deal between the EU and Mercosur. In cricket, at the close of play on the rain affected fourth day of the second test in Antigua, Australia now leads by two hundred and twenty-nine runs.en_US
