dc.description.abstractThis article examines the cost of high school graduations in Belize and the economic strain put on families of the graduating students. In addition, it considers the psychological effects of the lavish graduation ceremonies and celebrations on the graduates. It concludes that teachers, parents, and students need to reflect on the true purpose of graduation and attempt to make it truly compatible with life and reality. A critical examination of graduation rituals is seen as a necessity
