dc.description
The basic problem examined in this study was the fact that rural children of secondary school age in Trinidad and Tobago were not provided with equal opportunities for secondary education with urban children. This was exemplified by the fact that post-primary classes were the only real source of secondary education in the local rural community. The study presents a survey of the development of colonial education in Trinidad ad Tobago, which reveals the manner in which rural education evolved. An examination of the existing nature of the rural post-primary school and its environment showed evidence of the continuation of undesirable trends. Provisions for rural post-primary education in more developed countries were examined, as well as the recommendations of experts for the improvement of education in those countries. These recommendations provided the basis for proposals for the organization of rural post-primary schools in Trinidad and Tobago
