Elections in Haiti has been postponed amidst accusations that the Opposition is being excluded from the electoral process. The Island Council elections in Saint Martin ended in a tie between the two major political parties - the St. Martin Patriot Alliance and the Democratic party. As a result, this gives the smaller and more recent political party, the Serious Alternative People's Party which won one seat, the balance of power. The Britain Sunday Times newspaper reports that the humble banana is on the brink of causing a trade war between the US and Britain. Hugh Crosskill reports on the banana vaccine being developed by a team at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York and Texas University. Caribbean credit unions are poised to play a significant role in the region's development. Caribbean Confederation of Credit Union, Operations Manager Ralph Wharton speaks about its strengths and challenges. A High Court judge has strongly criticised the detention of a Jamaican visitor by British immigration officials. In Jamaica, a fringe party has proposed legalizing polygamy to please what it calls the traditional appetites of men.en_US
