Abstract
Level of superstitious belief is seen as one way of registering an individual's readiness to question all things, one of the desirable attributes of scientific literacy. The responses of 643 Grade 9 students to a 20-item scale designed to quantify the level of superstitious beliefs is examined, and the implications for science teaching in schools discussed
