dc.description
This report reviews the health situation and general socio-economic background to determine the need for, and proposed scope of, a nutrition education programme, the accomplishments of the pioneer programme, and appraises the results. It recommends immediate action on the following: 1) regular meetings of the coordinating committee to plan, discuss, and evaluate the development of a nutrition education programme; 2) the appointment of an executive secretary to enhance the effective functioning of the committee; 3) the initiation of a pilot project in nutrition education; 4) the appointment of three additional home economists; and 5) the continuation of the post of FAO nutritionist for at least two years. Appendix I examines the agenda of a nutrition course for community leaders, while Appendix II contains suggestions for further demonstration programmes
