Abstract
This paper examines the impact on the education system of the debt crisis combined with the implementation of policy measures designed to achieve structural adjustment of the economy. It identifies the consequences of the shortfall of financial resources as: (a) reduction of services, (b) mobilization of development aid, (c) increased taxes and cost recovery, and (d) increased community support.
