| dc.description.abstract | According to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, the Caribbean region could lose an estimated thirty million dollars a day if American Airlines pilots go ahead with their planned strike. The implications of the strike are spelt out to President Bill Clinton. Next, following a fire at an army base in the Province of Matanzas, Central Cuba, Cuban Armed Forces are searching for artillery weapons. One soldier died and three others are hurt. Next, the European Commission has warned that the row with Washington about trade with Cuba could harm the effectiveness of the World Trade Organisation. The trade body is setting up a panel to rule on whether Washington has the right to penalise foreign firms which trade with Cuba. Next, due to Cuba’s approval to have a bureau for the Cable News Network, the United States is granting nine other American organisations to open bureaus in Cuba. It is part of the Clinton Administration's efforts to spur democratic reform. Next, in Trinidad and Tobago, the People’s National Movement, the main opposition party has been hit by the defection of one of its members. Mr. Vincent Lasse has crossed the floor. Next, Director of the Sugar Association in the Caribbean discusses the Caribbean sugar exporting countries concern of an impending treat to their quota arrangement to the United Sates. In the final segment, a deal has been offered to O.J. Simpson following the order of punitive damage against the American football star O.J. Simpson, who is liable for the death of his ex-wife and her friend. Mr. Fred Goldman said that he is willing to give up all claims to Mr. Simpson’s money in exchange for a signed confession from Mr. Simpson that he committed the crime.
