Abstract
This report examines the role of education with a view to deciding whether it is appropriate to the requirements of the age of independence. It also addresses the role and status of the teacher, recruitment and training of teachers, teachers in politics, cost of consequences, and pay and conditions of service. It is argued that there is need for more extensive use of radio and television in the country's education system. The problems of education are seen as extending beyond the boundaries of the present system of education, and, therefore, their solutions must involve the active collaboration of organized industry as well as organized labour
