This paper documents some of the major changes taking place throughout the world that will affect the teacher of the 1990s. It also examines the nature of classrooms in order to show how their complexity and multi-dimensionality have affected the teacher’s job. The paper then evaluates the role of the teacher in this situation of change, and attempts to show how these changes affect the content and delivery of the curriculum.
