Abstract

This study aimed to find out what proportion of a sample of Jamaican students were planning to leave Jamaica after graduation. Two variables that seemed relevant to a decision to emigrate--social class and need for achievement--were also studied. Data from a larger study of Jamaican students conducted in 1967 were utilized for this investigation. The subjects were 67 male Jamaican students at the Mona Campus of The University of the West Indies (UWI) and 50 male Jamaican students at the College of Arts, Science and Technology (CAST) in Kingston
