Sanjay Bahadoorsingh

Dr. Sanjay Garth Bahadoorsingh is currently working as Lecturer , in the University of the West Indies (UWI – St.Augustine). He completed his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Manchester (UoM). His thesis focused on the influence of electrical tree growth in epoxy resins due to the harmonics affecting power quality. His research focused on developing models heeding the effects of operational stresses in the working environment whilst deterministically and statistically linking the ageing of insulation systems to the newly conceived asset management framework. He designed, built and integrated both hardware and software, interfacing digital and analogue electronics with LabVIEW and MATLAB to create a unique, multipurpose, portable, high voltage (£40k) test kit. He is continuing his research on Asset Management and Performance of Energy Systems”. His major achievements included: • Investigation of the influence of the interface between electrode and dielectric on electrica tree initiation and tree growth. • Collaborative work with Strathclyde University yielding publications assessing harmonic influenced partial discharge activity. He graduated at the top of my faculty cohort and was the recipient of numerous awards including ‘Most Innovative Special Project in Electrical & Computer Engineering’.
