his Postcard Collection was compiled by Mr. H. H. Cousins, Director of Agriculture in Jamaica, 1908-1932. It consists of 212 picture postcards, mainly reproductions of photographs but including some paintings and sketches. It represents an intact collection of picture postcards acquired in Jamaica and never mailed. The postcards provide a visual record of early 20th Century Jamaica and the multicultural society which was emerging in post-slavery period. They also depict evidence of the retention of African and East Indian traditions. The Collection was donated to the Library by Mr Cousin's family in 1982.
