Artefacts used in the delivery of a two-day virtual workshop held on 19th & 20th, November 2020, titled “Contending with Fake News and Disinformation in the Caribbean during the COVID-19 Pandemic.” This was a collaboration with the Open Campus St. Kitts and Nevis Site and the St Kitts and Nevis National Commission for UNESCO

The target audience includes journalists, students, communicators and other stakeholders.

The purpose is to address the scourge of fake news and disinformation in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The material covers:

  1. Journalistic language and scientific storytelling
  2. Basic journalism principles in the face of crises
  3. Verification techniques to identify disinformation and propaganda
  4. Guidelines for journalistic practice in the face of the pandemic.
