Item Band Spotlight: Fonclaire(Pan Evolution, 15-Feb-04) Unknown; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and TobagoThe article examines the formation of Fonclaire, the Southern based Steel Orchestra which had its genesis in 1965. The name Fonclaire was chosen since the panyard was situated at the corner of Claire and Fonrose Streets, San Fernando. Arnim Smith is back as President of Pan Trinbago after he decided to withdraw his resignation from the presidency of the pan body. Also, the East Zone champions, American Stores Exodus will lead off the competition and the order of appearance of the other bands are mentioned.Item Good News for Pan Calypso 2002(Express, 9-Dec-01) Joseph, Terry; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and TobagoPelham Goddard's "Good News" is one of the finest works he has penned, but Alvin Daniel's lyrics and the superior vocal talent of Roger George will push the song even further up the pan-kaiso charts. The song was commissioned by 2001 National and Caribbean Panorama champions, Exodus Steel Orchestra. "Good News", is one of 12 tracks on a compilation release from Daniel's Major and Minor Productions.Item Invaders(Pan Evolution, 15-Feb-04) Unknown; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and TobagoThe steelband Invaders established itself as one of the leading bands with its renditions of classics in calypso tempo, under the direction of Ellie Mannette. Invaders has always been a force to be reckoned with although the band has never yet won a Panorama title. The CD is called St. James Jam.Item Woeful Monday Night Pan in South(Trinidad Guardian, 13-Feb-13) Felmine, Kevon; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and TobagoThe Carnival Monday Night Steelband Competition in San Fernando paid tribute to the late calypsonian Stanley Cummings, better known as 'Squibby". The steelbands were required to play one of Squibby's songs in the pan competition. While there were mundane performances by some of the steelbands, the midnight mas rescued the celebrations for hundred of spectators.
